The Savvy Caregiver is an intensive, 5-week workshop for nonprofessional caregivers of those living with dementia. Go beyond introductory offerings with 10 hours of face-to-face training with dementia specialists. Each 2-hour class is complemented by reading assignments in The Savvy Caregiver textbook and additional worksheets.
The Savvy Caregiver Program addresses your biggest concerns and helps you to understand:
- Alzheimer's and other dementias
- how caregiving can take its toll, and how to manage the stress of caring for a loved one
- the reasons behind troubling behaviors
- techniques to improve your communication skills and avoid unnecessary conflict
- when it's time to take control and how to make the best decisions for your loved one
Developed by Dr. Ken Hepburn and a team of dementia experts at the University of Minnesota, this program is specially designed for people caring for a loved one in the middle stages of the disease.
Professional care providers are also invited to join this program, however we cannot offer CEU or CME credit. Space is limited and preference is given to nonprofessional caregivers.
To register for the next session, complete our screening survey here.
Your responses will be reviewed by our Program Team to determine if the Savvy Caregiver workshop is appropriate for your caregiving situation.
