Founded 1980
Funding The nonprofit Alzheimer's Association is funded through individual contributions, foundation grants, corporate contributions and planned gifts. The organization's major community fundraising event, Walk to End Alzheimer's, is held in three locations throughout the Cleveland Area Chapter's service area.
Who We Are

The Alzheimer's Association is the national voice for people with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders, their families and caregivers.

More than five million Americans have Alzheimer's disease, including more than 210,000 Ohio residents. Unless we can reverse this growing epidemic, that number is expected to increase to 7.1 million Americans by 2025.

More than 70 percent of people with Alzheimer's disease live at home. Nearly 75 percent of the home care is provided by families and friends. Caregivers take on extraordinary financial, emotional and physical responsibilities to support their loved one.

In Northeast Ohio and across the country, the Alzheimer's Association provides information, support, education and training for individuals and families affected by Alzheimer's. Contact us through our 24-hour Helpline (800.272.3900), the chapter website (, or during our many educational presentations throughout the region.

How We Help

Families can quickly become overwhelmed by the challenges Alzheimer's brings to their lives. The Alzheimer's Association provides a wealth of services and resources to help families and they are all FREE.

We provide consultation, support groups and education programs to help families understand and cope with the disease. Families tell us that our care consultants have been their lifeline in getting through it.

Advocacy and Research

The Alzheimer's Association supports advocacy on Alzheimer's and related memory issues before federal, state and local government. Further, the Alzheimer's Association is the largest private funder of Alzheimer research, and has committed more than $100 million toward research into the causes, treatment, prevention and cure of Alzheimer's disease. This includes major studies and important work happening right here in Northeast Ohio.
