For those with Alzheimer's, the world has grown confusing, overwhelming, and maybe even a little frightening. Alzheimer’s Association Memories in the Making® (MIM) is an art program for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias that brings comfort and joy through the process of creating watercolors. Even after people with dementia have lost the ability to use words, they are often able to express thoughts and emotions and to share memories through painting with watercolors. The experience offers an opportunity for the essence of who they are and what they care about to shine through. For info about MIM, including how your care community can become a MIM Host Site, contact Lisa Steffen, Memories in the Making Art Program Manager lsteffen@alz.org For information about becoming a volunteer art group facilitator, click here.
