If you have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's or another dementia, you are not alone. Our early-stage initiative provides comprehensive programs for individuals living with early-stage Alzheimer's disease or related dementias. 

Connecting to Others

  • Virtual Support Group for People with Dementia (Early Stage) | This specialized group provides a welcoming and encouraging environment for those in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia who can connect with others who are on a similar journey. Participants need to be be screened prior to joining the group.

  • AlzConnected is a free online platform that connects users with others by topic, and features a forum about living with Alzheimer's (or any other form of dementia). Click here to browse available topics, questions, or share one of your own. Anonymous posting available.

Plano Library Memory Keepers

  • Connections | This informal three-session program is designed for individuals with early-stage dementia, their care partners, and family members. Participants explore the galleries through interactive activities; experiment with different materials to create individual and group projects; and discover works of art through music, dance, literature, and storytelling. This program is free and takes place in-person. Light refreshments served. Space is limited and advance registration is required.

  • Re-Connections | This informal one-session program is designed for individuals with early-stage dementia, their care partners, and family members. Participants explore the galleries through interactive activities and discover works of art through music, dance, literature, and storytelling. This program is free and takes place in-person. Light refreshments served. Space is limited and advance registration is required.

Live Well Online Resources

Living a quality life in the early stage of Alzheimer's is a choice. The online tools below can help empower those facing an early stage diagnosis to take steps to live well for as long as possible, and find the confidence to face challenges ahead.

Care Consultations
Care Consultation provides support, solution-focused care planning and referral to community and chapter services for families impacted by Alzheimer's and dementia. This service us currently provided over the phone or via video conferencing. It is designed for those who may be overwhelmed by stress, have difficulty finding services, are confused about symptoms, and/or face complicated family dynamics. For further information, call the 24/7 Hour Helpline at 1-800-272-3900.

Get Involved
