The Judy Fund's Mother's Day message
Elizabeth Gelfand Stearns with her mother, Judy, 1981: Mother's Day is when we honor the women who've shaped our lives.
Dear Family and Friends,

Losing my mother and grandmother to Alzheimer's motivates me every day to fight this disease, but especially on Mother's Day.

Through The Judy Fund, we honor Judy and others lost to Alzheimer's while working to change the future for millions of mothers, grandmothers, fathers and grandfathers. Your generous support has helped make us the largest and fastest-growing family fund at the Alzheimer's Association and has had a tremendous impact on the fight against this disease. We truly couldn't do this without you.

Another increase in Alzheimer's research funding at NIH
On May 5, a $400 million increase in Alzheimer's research funding was signed into law, increasing federal funding at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to nearly $1.4 billion. After years of stagnant funding, this is the second year in a row the Alzheimer's Association's request for historic funding increases has been acted on by our federal leaders. Read more.

Lisa Genova delivers TED2017 talk on Alzheimer's
Women like our friend Lisa Genova are the inspiration for The Judy Fund Salon Series Mind&Heart, which puts professional speakers in front of women baby boomers to raise awareness that what's good for our hearts is good for our brains. Lisa, a neuroscientist and author of Still Alice, recently gave a TED2017 talk on the connection between heart and brain health. Lisa shared the latest science investigating the disease — and some promising research on what each of us can do to build an Alzheimer's-resistant brain. Well-done, Lisa! Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity raises awareness and support for The Judy Fund
The Judy Fund is honored to be the charity of choice for Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity. Above are a few photos from recent events at ΣAM chapters. We are grateful to the gentlemen of ΣAM UCLA who hosted a Tug On Alzheimer's Tournament in support of The Judy Fund, ΣAM Washington State University who hosted a 72-hour live stream to raise awareness and funds for our fight against Alzheimer's disease, and the University of Minnesota chapter of ΣAM for hosting Bike4Judy, where Sammies biked continuously for 24 hours to support The Judy Fund.
On Mother's Day and every day, thank you so much for your support.

Sincerely,
Elizabeth Gelfand Stearns Elizabeth Gelfand Stearns
