Exercise may slow cognitive decline for some older adults
Regular exercise may help slow memory and thinking decline for older adults living with mild cognitive impairment, new research suggests. Maria C. Carrillo, Ph.D., Alzheimer's Association chief science officer, said the study fits a broader, multifaceted strategy to attack Alzheimer's and all other dementia with both drugs and behavioral changes. In-home services can help people living with Alzheimer's
In-home care for a person living with Alzheimer's includes a wide range of services provided in the home rather than in a hospital or care facility. It can allow an individual living with Alzheimer's or another dementia to stay in their home and can also be of great assistance to caregivers. Learn more.

Too much TV time may increase dementia risk for older adults
Excessive TV viewing may increase dementia risk, but lots of computer use may protect against cognitive decline, new research suggests. The key difference is that watching TV is considered passive, while activities like reading or computer use require some mental engagement. More frequent exercise and being socially and cognitively engaged may also reduce the risk of cognitive decline. Learn more.

Independence in the early stage of Alzheimer's is possible
Some people living with Alzheimer's may continue to live successfully on their own during the early stage of the disease. Making simple adjustments, taking safety precautions and having the support of others can make things easier. Learn more.
