The Judy Fund invites you to walk with us.
Donna McCullough, chief mission and field operations officer of the Alzheimer's Association, presents the 2023 Stone Award to Elizabeth Gelfand Stearns and The Judy Fund.
Dear Family and Friends,

On July 17, I was honored to accept the 2023 Jerome H. Stone Philanthropy Award for Alzheimer's Research on behalf of The Judy Fund at the Alzheimer's Association International Conference® 2023 (AAIC®) in Amsterdam. This is truly our award, because it reflects the work we've done to change the trajectory of Alzheimer's — together! I was inspired to be in the company of the best and brightest minds in dementia science during this transformational time in the fight to end Alzheimer's. Now, in this new era of Alzheimer's treatment and research, there's extraordinary and unprecedented momentum in the field. The Judy Fund donors — 3,000 strong — have all played a part. We are so grateful for you!

More than ever, the Margaret Mead quote that drives The Judy Fund's work rings true: "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." Thank you for your ongoing support of The Judy Fund!

Exciting research news from the Alzheimer's Association International Conference® 2023 (AAIC®)
The Alzheimer's Association International Conference® (AAIC®) is the premier forum for presentation and discussion of the latest Alzheimer's and dementia research. New research reported at the AAIC 2023 covered the breadth of Alzheimer's disease and dementia research, including advancements in treatment, early and accurate diagnosis, and understanding of risk factors for Alzheimer's and other dementias.

Among other conference highlights:
  • Scientists provided additional evidence that thoroughly removing beta-amyloid from the brain is associated with significant slowing of disease progression in people living with early Alzheimer's.
  • Researchers reported results from a simple, finger-prick blood test that shows promise in the ability to detect markers of Alzheimer's using a single drop of blood.
  • New research demonstrated the relationship between gut health and the brain.
Thank you for your unwavering support of The Judy Fund which helps accelerate this remarkable and vital research!

Across campuses nationwide, the men of Sigma Alpha Mu (ΣAM) continue to rally behind The Judy Fund in support of the fight against Alzheimer's.
The Judy Fund outshines the darkness of Alzheimer's on The Longest Day
We are so grateful for our incredible teams for The Longest Day! This Alzheimer's Association fundraising event is held each year on the summer solstice — the day with the most light, June 21. It brings participants together to fight the disease through a fundraising activity of their choice. Because of the drive and determination of each and every participant, we exceeded our fundraising goals, raising an impressive $63,072 this year for The Longest Day!

The Judy Fund is participating again in 2024 as a Global Team, and we are excited that the men of Sigma Alpha Mu will continue to lead our efforts through the No Shave November Campaign. Chapters and alumni groups around the country grow out their facial hair for the entire month and ask family, friends and others to sponsor their efforts.
