Alzheimer’s disease doesn’t just affect the person with the diagnosis – it also impacts their families and friends, especially those who provide care for them. November is not only National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month but it’s also National Caregiver Month, when we honor the nearly 15 million Americans who provide 17 billion hours of unpaid care to individuals living with this devastating disease.

The Alzheimer’s Association offers a number of supportive programs and services to help caregivers deal with the disease and its impact on their lives:

Dementia and Driving Resource Center

The new online Dementia and Driving Resource Center helps caregivers prepare for difficult conversations about safety concerns related to driving. Videos on the site mimic potential scenarios caregivers may encounter. You can also find other safety resources in the Safety Center.

Caregiver Stress Check

Caregivers can often feel overwhelmed by their caregiving responsibilities. Take the Caregiver Stress Check to get tailored resources that can help.

Alzheimer’s Association’s essentiALZ™

Alzheimer’s Association’s essentiALZ™ is a new individual training and certification program that allows caregivers to learn more about Alzheimer’s and related dementias by taking an online training and an online exam to become certified by the Alzheimer’s Association. Be prepared, demonstrate knowledge and feel confident. Get certified, starting at $24.95 per individual.

24/7 Helpline

Our 24/7 Helpline is staffed by master’s level clinicians who can help answer questions about every day issues related to Alzheimer’s disease. Call for information about local community programs, services and any ongoing support you may need.

Alzheimer’s Association Green-Field Library

Learn more about the disease through the Alzheimer’s Association Green-Field Library, the nation’s largest library and resource center devoted to increasing knowledge about Alzheimer’s and related dementias.

Nationwide chapter network

Our nationwide chapter network offers a wealth of information about local programs and services including support groups and educational workshops.
