DSW Chapter is collaborating with Red Rock Search and Rescue (RRSAR) in Las Vegas, NV to address the issue of dementia and wandering in our communities. The mission of RRSAR is to utilize trained volunteers to provide search, rescue, training and recovery services to the community.
Wandering is a serious concern for people living with dementia as they can become easily confused and lost. Families do their best to prevent wandering but unfortunately it can still occur.
When RRSAR is contacted to assist in locating a person living with dementia who has wandered, a representative asks the family a series of questions to assist with the search. To help the search process, DSW chapter is providing a link to RRSAR’s questionnaire found here.
RRSAR recommends for families to keep the following information at home and updated periodically:
- A completed questionnaire
- A current photo of the individual
- An article of clothing or object that has been touched by the individual
