Division of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS) & Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD)

Our Chapter is pleased to recognize our two state government aging services offices as outstanding community partners. The Division of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS) of the Arizona Department of Economic Security and the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services each provide leadership and support to help older adults live safely with dignity and independence in our communities. Both Arizona DAAS and Nevada ADSD are responsible for planning, developing, coordinating and ensuring the delivery of high quality, comprehensive support systems for older adults.

In addition to their considerable work on a wide range of supportive resources for many different issues concerning seniors, DAAS and ADSD recognize the growing numbers of older adults with Alzheimer's in their states.  Both state agencies have been proactive in their leadership and support of the development of state plans on Alzheimer's disease.  ADSD and DAAS are past recipients of federal grants that led to the development and evaluation of CarePRO (Care partners Reaching Out), the evidence-based skill building program for caregivers that the Chapter continues to offer. Both state agencies have taken steps to identify and support a variety of caregiving needs.

"These state agencies are truly exemplary hubs of the aging services network in our two states", said Deborah Schaus, Alzheimer's Association Desert Southwest Chapter Executive Director. "We are honored to be part of the collaborative public-private partnerships with Nevada ADSD and Arizona DAAS to support people with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders in our communities."
