We'd like to shine a spotlight this month on one of our dedicated Walk to End Alzheimer's sponsors: 8 News NOW. KLAS-TV is committed to helping us spread the word of how critical it is to keep increasing awareness and education of Alzheimer's and dementia affecting so many Southern Nevadans. The CBS station donates $2500 in sponsorship, and also produces and airs a valuable public service announcement featuring Weather Anchor, Sherry Swensk, who also sits on the board of the Desert Southwest Chapter, and has co-emceed the event for the past couple of years.

Also to help promote the October fundraiser, Sherry produces feature stories of local families struggling with the disease to show viewers and the community that they're not alone in the fight to find a cute. her own mother, Norma, suffers from middle-stage dementia and Sherry says she will always be a supporter and advocate for the Alzheimer's Association. "I know what so many people are going through; I'm there, and it's heartbreaking to see your Mom or other loved ones slipping away from you. We have to keep working to find a cure, to help the millions of families to come, so they won't have to travel the same frustrating path, but can have hope for a cure."
