Sigma Kappa Sorority: Living with Heart for the Brain

The women of Sigma Kappa Sorority have partnered with the Alzheimer’s Association® since 1984 to help realize our vision of a world without Alzheimer’s disease. Thousands of Sigma Kappa members have volunteered countless hours raising awareness for the Alzheimer’s movement and funds to accelerate the pace of discovery in Alzheimer’s research.

Sigma Kappa logo“Sigma Kappa sisters make a bold commitment every day: we live with heart,” says Sara Seely Chacon, Sigma Kappa national president. “As an organization of women who have dedicated their hearts to helping the elderly since the 1950s, we are fortunate to work so closely with the Alzheimer’s Association to end this disease that impacts women disproportionately.”

Over more than three decades of an unwavering commitment to our cause, Sigma Kappa sisters have raised and donated more than $9 million to the Alzheimer’s Association.

In 2014 Sigma Kappa Foundation pledged a bold commitment of $1 million as the first philanthropic investor in the Women’s Alzheimer’s Research Initiative. In recognition of this extraordinary commitment Sigma Kappa became a member of the Alzheimer’s Association Zenith Society, a group of philanthropists who set the bar for leadership giving, engagement and impact in critical mission areas of Alzheimer’s care, advocacy, awareness and research.
