The Alzheimer’s Association Michigan Chapter will offer a wide array of free virtual support groups, education programs and social engagement programs in November, including another Dementia Super Saturday Series installment on Saturday, Nov. 14. November is National Alzheimer’s Awareness Month and National Caregivers Month.

Alzheimer’s Association support groups, education programs and social engagement programs offer emotional and social support, provide much-needed information about memory loss and dementia, and help persons with dementia and their care partners find ways to remain socially active.

“We’re thrilled to offer our standard monthly programs and services as well as provide Michiganders with another Dementia Super Saturday Series offering,” said Jean Barnas, Alzheimer’s Association program services director. “It’s a difficult time for so many people right now and this series combines a number of our most popular and well-attended programs into one cohesive agenda for those who might be more able to attend weekend programs.”

The Dementia Super Saturday Series schedule includes:
  • 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s, 10-11 a.m.
  • Dementia Conversations: Driving, Doctor Visits, Legal & Financial Planning, 11 a.m.-noon
  • Lunch + Enjoying Family Celebrations: Tip for Caregivers, noon-12:30 p.m.
  • Effective Communication Strategies, 12:30-1:30 p.m.

Participants may register for all of the above programs or fewer if desired at bit.ly/dementiasupersaturdayNov20 or by calling the Alzheimer’s Association 24/7 Helpline at 800.272.3900.

In the first six months of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Alzheimer’s Association Michigan Chapter offered more than 500 programs to more than 2,200 individuals across Michigan — and provided care, support, and consultation to thousands more. Programs and services, as well as the Association’s 24/7 Helpline, are free to Michiganders thanks to events and initiatives such as the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

A full list of November groups, programs and events are listed below. Registration is required by calling the Helpline at 800.272.3900 or visiting alz.org/gmc/virtual.
