Memories in the Making

Alzheimer’s Association Memories in the Making Art Auction is a unique program of creative expression for individuals with Alzheimer's disease or other dementia.  Through art and the creative process, these individuals speak to us, offering us the essence of themselves.  The art they produce is a tangible means of expression, which speaks to the families, the professional caregivers, and to the public.  Once the paintings are complete, pieces are selected to be auctioned off at the Memories in the Making Art Auction More

A Reason to Hope

A Reason to Hope Community Breakfast raises funds for programs and services critical to the individuals and families in our Chapter service area living with Alzheimer’s disease and to raise awareness of the Alzheimer’s Association.   At this hour long breakfast, learn about how our Chapter provides those affected by all forms of dementia with critical support, programs and education.  You’ll also hear how we are funding research to develop better treatments and bring us closer to a cure.

The event is free, but at the program’s conclusion, guests are given the opportunity to reinforce their commitment to the Alzheimer’s Association by making a contribution.  Most of all, we want guests to be inspired and leave with a lasting impression of the crucial work of the Alzheimer’s Association.

For more details on A Reason to Hope event in your area, contact Development Director, Kay Rader at 515.440.6383 x105.

Blondes vs. Brunettes®

Blondes vs. Brunettes is a volunteer-driven event that raises awareness and funds for the Alzheimer’s Association. Two teams of women – divided to reflect the age-old rivalry between blondes and brunettes – compete in a flag football game to help end Alzheimer’s.

Leading up to game day, teams participate in a series of events to socialize and increase awareness for Alzheimer’s disease. In addition, each player works to raise money to benefit the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association. Ultimately, Blondes vs. Brunettes hopes to meld the passion and spirit of young community leaders with the fight to end Alzheimer’s.

Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Fundraisers

Are you looking for a way to use your creativity and raise money for the Alzheimer's Association?  Why not host your own fundraising event?  You can host events that help raise money for your walk team (called Wrap-Around Events) or host your own event (other than a walk) to benefit the Alzheimer's Association (golf tournament, wine tasting, bike ride, etc).  It's easy, fun and provides critical support for services of people with Alzheimer's.

    1. Determine if you will be raising funds for your Walk to End Alzheimer's team (Wrap-Around Event) or hosting your own 3rd Party Event benefiting the Alzheimer's Association.
    2. Contact your local Alzheimer's Association office with your event idea to determine if we need additional paperwork completed.  Currently, if you would like to use the Alzheimer's Association or Walk to End Alzheimer's registered trademarked logos or their written name for your event, you MUST complete paperwork before using our logo.
    3. Host your event, and have fun!
    4. Submit your event report along with proceeds to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Iowa Chapter (report is only needed if you are hosting a 3rd Party Event to benefit the Alzheimer's Association).  ALL CHECKS MUST BE MADE OUT TO THE ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION.

**Please note that the use of the Alzheimer's Association LOGO OR NAME MUST BE APPROVED prior to placing it on ANY materials used in your events. Please contact your local staff for additional details or if you have questions.**
