Are you caring for someone with dementia? We can help

The Missouri Caregiver Program provides a variety of ways to support caregivers who are caring for someone living with Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia.

To be eligible to receive services through the Missouri Caregiver Program,

  1. the person receiving care must be living with Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia,
  2. both the primary caregiver and care recipient must live in Missouri,
  3. If seeking financial assistance, the caregiver must live with the person living with Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia

Services provided by the Missouri Caregiver Program include Individualized Caregiver Support and Financial Assistance.

Individualized Caregiver Support: Provided by Memory Care Home Solutions, this program provides caregivers with access to strategies for providing care at home using in-person or telehealth visits. This includes strategies for behavior management, meaningful activities, and home safety, for example.

Financial Assistance: Small grants, up to $1000, are available to help with the cost of respite services, care products, home modifications or assistive technology. In some cases, the Missouri Caregiver Program may pay directly for respite services or products, avoiding out of pocket costs for you. However, reimbursement for expenses is also allowable with copies of your receipts. Limited funds are available.

For example, assistance can be provided for

  1. Short term care in-home or at a facility,
  2. Adult day programs,
  3. transportation
  4. Legal assistance
  5. Supplies including nutritional support and incontinence supplies
  6. Assistive devices and home modifications,
  7. Counseling for caregivers and those affected by Alzheimer’s
  8. Assistive technology such as smart watches or tracking apps, motion detection, and fall alert devices
