Volunteer with the Alzheimer's Association

Our volunteers are passionate, inspired and want to make a difference in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. Whether you can spare a few hours a week or make a more significant time commitment, please consider becoming an Alzheimer's Association volunteer. There are many ways to volunteer. For more information, please call 808.591.2771.

Volunteer Opportunities

Community Educators
Deliver community education programs developed by the Alzheimer’s Association, using scripted curricula, PowerPoint presentations and other prepared training materials provided by the Association. All topics are related to Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias as well as the information that affected individuals and families need.

Caregiver Support Group Facilitators
Help guide an Alzheimer’s Association support group, which is an open gathering of people with common problems, needs and interests who come together to share their feelings, thoughts and experiences in a combined effort to better cope with and manage the shared problems of dementia in a safe environment. The goal of the Alzheimer’s Association support groups is to provide emotional, social and/or educational support to group members.

Office Support
Assist in the many administrative tasks needed to keep our office running smoothly, including special projects, mailings, collating and copying.

Health Fairs, Street Fairs, Agency Fairs
“Man” an Alzheimer's Association table at health fairs, agency fairs and street fairs. Answer basic questions on Alzheimer’s disease to senior groups, corporate offices, community centers and schools. Volunteer training provided by the Alzheimer's Association.

Speakers Bureau
Provide presentations on Alzheimer's disease and the Alzheimer's Association to audiences including senior centers, health fair attendees, community organizations, clubs, congregations and schools.

Communicate with elected officials via petitions, phone calls and other calls-to-action, participate in advocacy and policy-related events in their area, and share your story with other advocates. Learn more.

Event Committee
Assist with the planning and execution of fundraisers such as Walk to End Alzheimer’s and The Longest Day, helping fuel the mission-relative initiatives of care, support and research of the Alzheimer’s Association. Committee member tasks include recruiting team members, raising revenue, increasing awareness and implementing event activities.

Day of Event
Help ensure a quality event experience for all participants. These volunteers assist with logistics such as event set-up, registration, greeting and directing fellow volunteers, and event clean-up.
