The March 6, 2021, symposium featured a free virtual screening of “In Our Right Mind,” a film that shares the stories of African Americans and Hispanics grappling with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.

There was a talk by Keynote Speaker Dr. Maria Carrillo, Chief Science Officer for the Alzheimer’s Association.

The event also included a panel discussion featuring Dr. Carrillo, producer and narrator Renee Chenault Fattah, Pastor Viviana DeCohen of Mount Vernon Heights Congregational Church; Colette V. Smith former coach for the N.Y. Jets and currently a caregiver for her mother who has dementia.

The event ended with a brief presentation by Dr. Christiane Reitz, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Neurology and Epidemology in the Gertrude H.
Sergievsky Center and Taub Institute for Research on Alzheimer’s Disease and the Aging Brain.
