Conquering Alzheimer's is as much a matter of education and public policy as scientific discovery, and we need your help to change the future of this devastating disease. Advocates for the Heart of America Chapter extend the voices of people with Alzheimer's disease and their families into legislative offices throughout Kansas and Missouri. Our volunteers also raise awareness with every U.S. Senator and Representative.

Our goal is to help elected officials better understand the issues facing those with Alzheimer's disease and those who assist in their care. Advocacy work ranges from phone calls and email trees to personal visits with elected officials.

On-going Advocacy Opportunities:

Congressional Team Member
Keep in regular contact with a Representative or Senator throughout the year. Your goal is to educate the legislator and his or her staff about the impact of the disease on families and to advocate for increases in funding for research. It's easy to sign up! Click here to become a Congressional Team Member.

State Advocate
As a state advocate, you will engage public officials and policymakers in a variety of ways, urging their support for critical Alzheimer's legislation and policy changes. You may choose the level of engagement that suits you, whether that is sending emails to your elected official, posting updates on social media, or meeting in person (not at this time due to COVID-19) with an elected official in your community or in the state capital.
