JENNIFER VAN OSS

Jennifer Van Oss is a trained 3D artist, and recently authored a memoir of her experience with her father’s younger-onset dementia entitled Why I’m Scared of Doctors. She has worked on a wide range of projects as an artist, from forensic reconstructions, to commercials, to a “Shark Tank” pitch. She took a hiatus from art to work as an Activity Director in a memory care facility in Austin, Texas, translating her experience with her father’s dementia into something useful for others.

Her passion for a world without dementia has only grown stronger over the years, and since moving to Washington, DC in 2018 she has volunteered with the Alzheimer’s Association in a number of capacities. Most notably, her team for The Longest Day reached Top Ten Global Fundraisers status in 2022. Jennifer lives in Columbia Heights with her husband, Trenton, and two children.
