The Northern California and Northern Nevada Chapter offers programs and resources to support people living with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), Alzheimer's, or another form of dementia or memory loss.

In-Person Support Groups

Our early stage support groups are for the person with a physician’s diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease or a related disorder, who is comfortable discussing their diagnosis and symptoms, and wants the opportunity to talk with others in a group setting.

Support groups are currently meeting in Lafayette, Redwood City, San Francisco, San Jose, San Rafael, Santa Rosa, Monterey, Santa Cruz, Sacramento, and Reno.

Most groups include a group for a care partner that meets at the same time in a separate room. Pre-screening is required prior to enrollment. For more information call Judy Filippoff at 408.372.9937

Peer-to-Peer Outreach Program

The Alzheimer’s Association Peer-to-Peer Outreach Program is a unique service that connects newly diagnosed individuals with others living with early stage Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia. Through a series of confidential phone calls, peer outreach volunteers engage with early-stage individuals in meaningful conversations to share their experience and perspectives living with the disease, provide emotional support, and share information about Alzheimer’s Association® programs and services.

If you have a diagnosis of early stage Alzheimer’s or a related dementia, and would like to speak with a peer outreach volunteer, please contact Vanessa Souza at 408.372.9976 or vsouza@alz.org. A pre-screening is required to participate in the Peer-to-Peer Outreach program.

Living With Alzheimer's

The diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease is life-changing and leads to many questions. What will this mean for me and my family? How do I plan for the future? Where can I get the help I need? In this three-part education program, you will hear from others who have been where you are. You’ll learn what you need to know, what you need to plan, and what you can do as you navigate this chapter of your life.

Early Stage Forum

Once a year, the Alzheimer’s Association invites early stage families to join us for half-day forums in key locations. Attendees learn more about Alzheimer’s disease, get the latest research updates and connect with others living with the disease.

The event is free and open to individuals with early stage Alzheimer’s disease and their care partners. Care partners who are interested in attending must be accompanied by an early stage individual. To find out when the next Early Stage Forum takes place, contact Vanessa Souza at 408.372.9976 or email vsouza@alz.org
