Great Book! "The Alzheimer's Journey" by Barbara Michels

OUR CHAPTER

The Alzheimer’s Association, New Mexico Chapter is a nonprofit that provides services and support to the 43,000 New Mexicans with Alzheimer’s disease and their 85,000 unpaid family caregivers. The Chapter is a community-based, volunteer-driven 501(c) (3) nonprofit that maximizes collaboration with other public, private and state agencies.

OUR MISSION
The Alzheimer's Association leads the way to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia — by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.
.
OUR VISION
A world without Alzheimer's and all other dementia.

OUR HISTORY
The Alzheimer's Association "Albuquerque Chapter", was founded in 1983 by Marian Knapp and other family caregivers facing the daily challenges of caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's disease.

In 1996, the chapter expanded to include five southern counties and was renamed the New Mexico Chapter.

Currently the Chapter operates five offices in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Las Cruces, Farmington and Roswell. A membership of over 10,000 families, caregivers, professionals and businesses receive the quarterly newsletter and support statewide efforts to serve caregivers and support research at the National level.

A volunteer Advisory Board of Directors supports the New Mexico Chapter and the work of its staff.

The New Mexico Chapter serves families facing Alzheimer's across the state through support groups, a 24/7 Helpline (1 (800) 272-3900), information kits, resources and referrals, training workshops, education conferences, a respite reimbursement program and advocacy.

These services are supported through special events such as The Walk to End Alzheimer's, private donations from individuals, corporations and foundations, and through the State of New Mexico Aging and Long Term Services Department.
