A retired character actor with diagnosed dementia, longs to perform at his beloved summer thater one last time. Against his daughter's wishes, he accepts a role from the newly installed artistic director who is unaware of the man's condition.

To help promote awareness in the community about Alzheimer's disease and the Walk to End Alzheimer's, the North Central Texas Chapter will hold free movie screenings of The Father and the Bear in Hudson Oaks. The independent film by John Putch was shown recently at the USA Film Festival in Dallas and was very well received.
