Volunteer Opportunities

The Alzheimer's Association Oregon Chapter has the following volunteer opportunities available in Central Oregon:

  • Outreach education presenters (throughout the region)
    This position requires effective presentation skills and a strong knowledge of the subject matter to be taught, including familiarization with general trends and research in Alzheimer’s and dementia; comfort with multimedia presentations; and the ability to think on your feet. Volunteers must be at least 21 years old and be willing to attend specialized training. They also need to provide their own laptop. This position requires a one-year commitment.


  • Outreach Specialists (throughout the region)
    This position requires you to attend local health fairs, social events, sporting events, charity campaigns and other public venues to provide information about Alzheimer’s disease, services the Alzheimer’s Association offers and ways to give back. This is a great way to learn about Alzheimer’s disease and serve your community. Locations and times may vary. Some events are held outdoors and on weekends. Volunteers must be at least 21 years old and be willing to attend specialized training. They also need to provide their own laptop.


  • Memories in the Making facilitators (in Redmond)
    Memories in the Making is a watercolor-painting program for people in the early stages of dementia. No art experience is necessary. Ideal candidates should have experience or be comfortable working with people with various types of dementia, and they should be committed to fostering a safe and validating environment for both the individual with dementia and his/her care partner. Facilitators should be able to commit to one full year of service to the program (usually four eight-week sessions).


  • Sing Here Now administrative volunteers (in Bend)
    Sing Here Now is a community choir for individuals with early memory loss and their care partners. No music experience is necessary. Ideal candidates should have experience or be comfortable working with people with various types of dementia, and they should be committed to fostering a safe and validating environment for both the individual with dementia and his/her care partner. Facilitators should be able to commit to one full year of service to the program (usually three six-week sessions).
