About the Program

artNOW is an arts engagement program that combines discussion-based gallery tours of the Portland Art Museum and art-making classes in the Portland Art Museum studio for individuals living with dementia and their care partners. Creative activity in the museum studio encourages experimentation with a wide variety of materials.

Designed for people with younger-onset or early to mid-stage dementia; artNOW provides opportunities to enjoy conversation, works of art and new experiences in the Portland Art Museum galleries and studio. Specially trained museum educators and gallery guides facilitate an exchange of ideas without relying on short-term memory or recollection of art historical information.

artNOW was developed in partnership with the Alzheimer's Association Oregon & SW Washington Chapter and the Portland Art Museum.

artNOW is free, but space is limited and screening and registration are required. Call 1-800-272-3900 for more information or to register.
