The examination of human brain tissue can contribute to research about Alzheimer’s disease and all other dementias, including investigation into potential treatments. Brain donations are therefore essential to furthering these research advancements. Dr. Didem Öz’s project aims to understand the public’s awareness and perception about brain donation by asking local communities in Turkey about their willingness to donate. Dr. Oz will use this collection of data to address the concerns regarding brain donation and develop a preliminary education program to encourage brain donation. If successful, the study results may help promote dementia awareness and dementia science research in Turkey.
