Walks raise $350,000 for Alzheimer's care, research
The 2020 Walk to End Alzheimer’s took place on Oct. 3 in Canandaigua, Oct. 10 in Rochester and Oct. 17 in Elmira, raising more than $350,000 for dementia care, support and research. Participants walked in small groups of friends and family on sidewalks and trails across the Greater Rochester and Finger Lakes region.
“This year, people living with dementia and those who care about them have been faced with unprecedented challenges,” said Teresa Galbier, chapter executive, Alzheimer’s Association, Rochester and Finger Lakes region. “But, with the support of more than 1,200 walkers, team captains and sponsors, we were able to continue to offer necessary programs and services in our 10-county region. We are truly humbled by the incredible generosity of those who participated everywhere, painting our community purple this fall.”
