Enroll your company in the Alzheimer's Workplace Alliance

The Alzheimer's Workplace Alliance (AWA) is a group of nearly 2,000 leading companies and organizations that have stepped up as leaders in the fight against Alzheimer's disease. As AWA Corporate Champions, they support their employees, customers, members and other stakeholders with resources, tools and information on Alzheimer's disease, the nation's sixth-leading cause of death.

This Alliance, made possible by the Alzheimer's Association, aims to raise awareness of the disease and importance of early detection while providing help to those who are balancing work and caregiving responsibilities.

AWA Corporate Champions:

  • Support employees caring for a person with Alzheimer's disease.
  • Value employee wellness, work-life balance and corporate social responsibility.
  • Enhance overall wellness program offerings.
  • Align with other brands and the world's leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support and research. Join now.

Participate in The Longest Day held in June, our new awareness month!

Held on the summer solstice, The Longest Day (June 21) is a sunrise-to-sunset team event honoring the strength, passion and endurance of those facing Alzheimer’s disease. Teams complete approximately 16 hours of activity to raise awareness and funds for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association. Run a half-marathon, organize a basketball tournament, plan a day of painting, or play an all-day game of cards. Anything you do will make an impact in the fight. A great team-building event.

Go Casual for a Cause

Just by dressing down, you can help the millions of families affected by Alzheimer's disease. Encourage employees to dress down or wear jeans in exchange for a small donation (usually $5) to the Alzheimer's Association. Display your commitment to the cause by wearing our symbol. Complete the form to order your free kit, complete with symbol stickers. Download this flyer for more information and ideas on how your company can get involved. Sign up here.

Workplace Campaigns

The Chapter is a proud member of Community Health Charities of Virginia. Show your support during your workplace giving campaign by choosing the Southeastern Virginia Chapter's agency code #6002 or code #13194 depending on the campaign. Or if you prefer to designate your gift to our national organization, look for the Alzheimer’s Association (code #11234) without the local chapter designation in the Combined Federal Campaign. By double-checking the name you are ensuring that your gift is being directed to exactly where you want it to go.

You can also support our chapter through your local United Way campaign! Many local United Ways support Donor Choice (write-in option) in their general workplace campaigns. All you have to do is simply write in: Alzheimer’s Association Southeastern Virginia Chapter. If you have any questions about Donor Choice, please call the chapter or your nearest United Way.

Sponsorship & Advertising

If your company is interested in major corporate sponsorship, event sponsorship, or advertising in our resource manual — "Getting Started", please call Gino Colombara, President, at 757.459.2405 for more information and a copy of our sponsor packet.
