Houston Alliance to Address Dementia (HAAD)

Increasing Houston's capacity to address the needs of individuals with dementia and their families.

The Houston Alliance to Address Dementia (HAAD) is a federal grant-funded project administered by BakerRipley focused on increasing Houston's capacity to address the needs of individuals with dementia and their families. The HAAD project works with community organizations to increase their knowledge and skills in recognizing and responding to the needs of client’s with or at risk of dementia. The project serves individuals with or at risk of dementia living alone, caregivers of individuals with dementia, and dementia in individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The Alzheimer's Association partners with HAAD to provide professional and community education and care consultation for those outside Harris County.

The grant provides:

  • Case Management for Individuals with Dementia Living Alone
  • In-home evaluations
  • Referral to resources and services
  • Assistance w/ arrangement of services
  • Emotional support
  • Assistance with planning for the future
  • Care Consultation for Caregivers of individuals with dementia through BakerRipley or the Alzheimer's Association ( 1-800 272 3900 )
  • Personalized phone coaching
  • Assistance planning for future
  • Step-by-step plans
  • Access to resources

There are no income guidelines for participating in the program.  However, case management services are restricted to individuals residing within Harris County.
