When you participate in Walk, your fundraising dollars fuel our mission-related initiatives of care, support and research. While there is no fee to register and no minimum fundraising amount to participate, the Alzheimer's Association is counting on you to help us reach our goal of raising $1,350,000 at the 13 Walk to End Alzheimer's in Southeast Texas. Here are a few tips to get you started with your fundraising efforts:

Make a self-donation to lead by example and show your commitment to the cause.
Update your personal fundraising webpage and tell your story about why you’re participating in Walk to End Alzheimer’s. VIDEO: Updating your personal page.
Send emails from your Participant Center (already written for you!) to ask for support from friends, family and co-workers. VIDEO: Sending email in your participant center.
Get social and use Facebook to get the word out. Include a link to your fundraising page in your status!

Invite others. Take your fundraising efforts to the office, or host a garage sale, bake sale, dinner party or game night with your team. Ask for donations in exchange for goods or entry to your event.
Go Mobile! Download our iPhone app to send emails and check your fundraising progress on the go.

The staff at the local Alzheimer's Association office is here to support your efforts. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have questions about online fundraising, hosting events, recruiting team members, or anything else related to the Walk. We can give you tips on the right type of fundraiser for you, recommend how to solicit donations, and provide resources, templates and Association materials. Check out the links below for tools and information that will make your fundraising experience fun and easy!

Every dollar that you raise for Walk to End Alzheimer’s can potentially be doubled (or even tripled) with a matching gift! A matching gift is a donation made by a corporation or foundation on behalf of an employee. The donation matches a contribution made by that employee to a nonprofit organization.

Please click here to search for your employer on our list of companies with a matching gift program or contact your HR department to find out whether your company participates. And be sure to ask your donors to do the same. With little extra effort, matching gifts can take your Walk fundraising to the next level!

The Alzheimer’s Association is the largest nonprofit voluntary health organization dedicated to accelerating the progress in prevention, cure and living with Alzheimer’s disease. The funds raised through Walk to End Alzheimer’s benefit the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association. We strive to:

  • Help families across the country by continuing to provide and enhance programs focusing on education and support.
  • Advance critical research studies into methods of treatment, prevention and ultimately, a cure.
  • Speak up for the needs and rights of those facing Alzheimer’s through our public policy initiatives.

A donor-supported organization, the Alzheimer's Association allocates its funds in an ethical and responsible manner that exceeds the rigorous standards.
