Early-Stage Social Programs
Memories in the Making
The Alzheimer’s Association Memories in the Making® program offers creative art expression for individuals with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and early- to middle-stage Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia. The program is delivered through long-term care communities, adult day facilities and Memory Cafes in Wisconsin. No prior art experience needed!
Creativity: The artistic process stimulates the brain and increases the levels of concentration, sustained attention, and self-esteem. We celebrate what the artist can still do.
Reminiscing: Participants can preserve distant memories or capture the spirit of the moment in a safe, encouraging environment without judgement.
Social Engagement: Sharing the stories behind their art fosters communication with family, friends, and caregivers. This increases a sense of belonging and overall well-being.Milwaukee
