Run Jimmy Run 5K

Western New York's most family-friendly and fun running event!
This annual 5K race and 1K fun walk honors the memory of Buffalo Mayor James "Jimmy" Griffin, who passed away with a type of dementia called Sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease, or CJD, in 2008. The Run Jimmy Run was started by his daughter Maureen Griffin Tomczak in 2013 to benefit the WNY Chapter.
We're planning the event for 2022, so check back here for updates in the spring!

The Longest Day is one of the signature fundraising events for the Alzheimer's Association, and like the highly successful Walk to End Alzheimer's, individuals and teams can organize events and fundraise all year round. The event is traditionally celebrated on the summer solstice, (June 21) but you can choose any day in June (Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month)! TLD is all about love: love for someone with dementia, love of being active, love of being part of an effort to end this disease. You can support this unique event by starting your own fundraiser or attending one of the events organzied across Western New York.
