2014 Gala Kick-Off Reception -
The 2014 Chicago Rita Hayworth Gala, chaired by Fifi Levin and Karen Segal, was held on Saturday, May 10 at the Hilton Chicago. More than 940 guests were in attendance and the event raised a record breaking $1.7 million for the Alzheimer's Association.
The theme of the Gala was "One City, One Dream" where Chicago's corporate, athletic, civic and political leaders stood together with the committee to show their support for an increase in Alzheimer's awareness. To celebrate this theme, Jim Cornelison, Chicago Blackhawks national anthem singer, kicked off the evening with a standing ovation from the crowd as he performed his iconic rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner. Following this special performance, legendary Chicago Bears head coach and Super Bowl XX Champion, Mike Ditka, served as guest emcee for the evening.
The 2015 Chicago Rita Hayworth Gala will be chaired by Susan and Jim Draddy. The 28th annual event will be on May 9, 2015 at the Hilton Chicago.
Princess Yasmin Aga Khan began the Gala in honor of her mother, actress Rita Hayworth, who died as a result of Alzheimer's disease. Under Princess Yasmin Aga Khan's leadership, over $63 million has been raised through the Chicago and New York Rita Hayworth Galas. These funds, combined with other donations, have helped the Alzheimer's Association work toward our vision of a world without Alzheimer's disease.
