Eric VanVlymen, MSW, is the Alzheimer’s Association area leader for chapters in the western United States, overseeing operations in eight regions across 26 states. A member of the executive team, VanVlymen manages a 600-person field network comprising regional staff in 35 chapters. In this role, he leads chapter efforts to implement the Association's mission by accelerating research; enhancing care and support; advancing public policy; strengthening diversity, equity and inclusion; increasing concern and awareness; and growing revenue.
VanVlymen has more than 20 years of experience with the Association, most recently as the leader for Region 10, overseeing Ohio, Michigan and West Virginia. During his six years in that role, he led the region to significant progress across the organization’s priorities, with a strong focus on mobilizing communities and growing Walk to End Alzheimer’s®. Prior to that, VanVlymen served as the executive director of the Miami Valley Chapter.
VanVlymen received a master of social work degree from Southern Indiana University and a bachelor of social work degree from Taylor University.
