Vincent B. Murphy

July 24, 1928 – Oct. 13, 2006

An avid equestrian, tennis player and patron to a large Irish family, Vince passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer's at the age of 78.

Vince graduated from Yale University and attended Wharton Graduate School. A marine in the Korean War, Vince earned the rank of major and received the Purple Heart.

A devout Catholic, he was anointed a member of the Knights of St. Gregory and the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre and was a former member of the Board of Councillors of the Knights of Malta.

A Canova medal recipient, Vince served on the board of patrons of the Arts of the Vatican Museum and as president of the U.S. equestrian team. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 53 years, a father to six children and grandfather to 20 grandchildren.
