Walk to End Alzheimer’s is world’s largest event dedicated to Alzheimer’s care, support and research

CHICAGO, Sept. 19, 2023 — The Alzheimer’s Association announced that Eisai will serve as a national sponsor for the 2023 Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, which is held in more than 600 communities across the country.

Eisai, a global research and development-based pharmaceutical company headquartered in Japan, recently partnered with Biogen to develop Leqembi®, the first Alzheimer’s treatment to receive traditional U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval earlier this year. As the event’s newest National Sponsor, Eisai will have an exhibit presence in 25 communities nationwide.

“The Alzheimer’s Association welcomes Eisai as a national sponsor of this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s,” said Donna McCullough, chief mission and field operations officer, Alzheimer’s Association. “Eisai’s generous support enables the Alzheimer’s Association and its volunteers to better reach and help more families affected by this devastating disease with care, support and disease-related research.”

More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease in the United States. Additionally, more than 11 million family members and friends provide care to people living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

“Eisai is proud to serve as this year’s national sponsor of the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s,” said Tatsuyuki Yasuno, Chairman & CEO, Eisai Inc. “Activities like participating in walks across the country to support the Alzheimer’s community is a part of our human health care (hhc) mission, which is to spend time with and learn from the people we serve, so we can better understand their true needs.”

On Walk day, participants honor those affected by Alzheimer’s with the poignant Promise Garden ceremony — a mission-focused experience that signifies our solidarity in the fight against the disease. The colors of the Promise Garden flowers represent people’s connection to Alzheimer’s — their personal reasons to end the disease.

Last year, more than 52,000 teams and 320,000 individuals participated in Walk events across the country. To register and receive the latest updates for this year’s Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s, visit alz.org/walk.
