— AAIC® Neuroscience Next showcases research from the next generation of Alzheimer’s and dementia scientists and clinicians —
CHICAGO, April 22, 2024 — Leading international neuroscience experts and early career researchers will convene for the
Alzheimer’s Association International Conference® Neuroscience Next, a global, free virtual conference April 22-25, 2024. The conference connects global and local communities by sharing research and advancing insights from students, postdoctoral researchers and early career research professionals.
Broadcast live from seven international locations, the conference features plenary presentations on the future of neuroscience research delivered by leaders in the field and Lightning Presentation Rounds from early career researchers.
“Younger researchers and those new to the field represent the future of neuroscience. The discoveries they make today will shape the way we understand, diagnose, treat and prevent brain disorders tomorrow,” said Maria C. Carrillo, Ph.D., Alzheimer’s Association chief science officer and medical affairs lead. “Through AAIC Neuroscience Next, the Alzheimer’s Association is engaging the wider neuroscience field by encouraging the research community to form both local and global connections.”
The core program will be streamed live from these locations, know as “hybrid hubs”:
- Porto Alegre, Brazil and San Francisco, U.S. on Monday, April 22
- Bangalore, India and Dublin, Ireland on Tuesday, April 23
- Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and Belgrade, Serbia on Wednesday, April 24
- Chicago, U.S. on Thursday, April 25
All registrants are invited to attend the core AAIC Neuroscience Next scientific program virtually. In addition to the online sessions, in-person programming is available for early career researchers at the seven “hybrid hub” locations, including poster presentations, networking sessions and skills workshops. In total, the conference features abstracts on genetics, drug development, molecular and cell biology, human neuropathology, and development of new models and analysis methods for research.
The closing session will include the announcement of the Alzheimer's Association Excellence in Neuroscience Mentoring Award, which honors individuals making significant contributions to mentoring dementia scientists, and the AAIC Neuroscience Next ‘One to Watch’ Award, which recognizes the next generation of trailblazers in scientific thinking, collaboration, communication and outreach in the field of neuroscience.
