Brandon McBay
Board President
Brandon brings over 20 years of banking experience, with expertise in Commercial Underwriting, Asset-Based Lending, Portfolio Administration, and CECL. He has led teams and driven organizational growth through effective management, strategy development, and product innovation. His tenure in the banking industry includes helping a financial institution grow organically by $3 billion over 10 years and navigating a successful IPO, all while maintaining a strong asset quality. A policy architect, Brandon has written comprehensive commercial and consumer loan policies, including underwriting guidelines, and is a strong proponent of efficiency through technology, particularly Loan Origination System (LOS) workflow tools.
Brandon is known for his commitment to excellence, community service, and mission-driven leadership.

Daniel New
Daniel brings over a decade of experience at the intersection of healthcare, data strategy, and nonprofit leadership. As the Director of Business Intelligence at Dragonfly Health, he leads enterprise-wide analytics efforts that drive strategic growth, operational performance, and improved patient outcomes. Daniel is known for building scalable data programs that turn complexity into clarity and empower executive decision-making.
Daniel is the President and founder of The McNew Project, a 501(c)(3)* nonprofit organization that channels community energy into funding charitable and scientific initiatives, with Alzheimer's advocacy at its core. Under his leadership, The McNew Project hosts the Royal ALZ Gala, an annual event supporting the Alzheimer’s Association of Alabama. This year's event will be the 4th annual, where they plan to raise $200,000 - making their total contribution over $400,000 in just a four year period.
His background in healthcare operations and administration, paired with a deep understanding of analytics and organizational strategy, gives him a unique lens on the challenges facing patients, families, and the systems that support them. Daniel holds a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from the University of St. Francis and a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Outside of his professional work, Daniel is a classically trained singer and avid traveler. He finds joy in music and discovering new perspectives across the globe. He lives in Mountain Brook, Alabama with his husband Brandon, where they enjoy hosting friends, practicing yoga, staying active in the community, and loving on their two pup children, Tucker and Maverick.

Scott Heald
Mr. Heald has over 25 years of financial and operational leadership experience. He is currently Director of Asset Management and Underwriting for Medical Properties Trust, a publicly traded healthcare Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) headquartered in Birmingham, AL. In his role, he is responsible for a portfolio of domestic and European hospital properties and relationships with the healthcare systems who operate those hospitals on a day-to-day basis. Additionally, Mr. Heald is responsible for due diligence activities and overall evaluation around potential new investments to Medical Properties Trust’s hospital real estate portfolio.
Mr. Heald has been honored to serve on the Board of the Alzheimer’s Association Alabama Chapter since May of 2022. He volunteers to serve in loving memory of his grandmother, Katherine Davis, who was lost to Alzheimer’s disease. Mr. Heald is deeply committed to the Alzheimer’s Association’s mission to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia — by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.
Outside of his professional and community endeavors, Mr. Heald enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, exercise, travel, reading and music.

Kimberly Stephens
Domit Investment Group, President and Zyne Family Foundation, President, Kimberly is a Birmingham native and graduated from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in Business.
She has been a supporter of the Alzheimer’s Association since 2015, when her family participated in their first Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Birmingham to share their mother’s early onset diagnosis. She is very active within our local chapter and served as the Birmingham Walk Chair from 2017-2023. Since 2018, she has been a member of the Alzheimer’s Impact Movement (AIM) and currently serves as the Advocacy Ambassador to Senator Tommy Tuberville.
She has a large Catholic Lebanese family and is a very active member at St. Elias Maronite Catholic Church. When she is not volunteering or working she loves to travel and check out new spots around town, while also spending time with family and friends.

Michelle Lorino
Michelle graduated from the University of Alabama with a bachelor's in Marketing and began working at STERIS, where she has been for the past 22 years. Currently, she manages all Customer Operations for the IMS division of STERIS.
In 2017, she started volunteering with the Alzheimer's Association where she served as co-chair for the Birmingham Walk to End Alzheimer’s for 7 years. From there, she joined the Board of Directors of the Alzheimer's Association: Alabama Chapter and co-chaired the Executive Leadership Team, educating participants about the Alzheimer's Association and mentoring them in their fundraising efforts.
In her spare time, she enjoys Alabama Football - Roll Tide! and spending time with family and friends.

Beth Chambers
Beth Chambers is a dedicated professional with over 18 years of experience in account management, sales, and customer service at Blue Cross and Blue Shield. In her current role as District Account Manager she brings a wealth of expertise in client relations, strategic planning, and healthcare management.
Throughout her career, Beth has developed a deep understanding of healthcare systems, which she leverages to support the Association's mission of advancing research and providing care for those affected by Alzheimer's disease.
Beth holds a Master’s Degree from the University of North Alabama and is passionate about making a positive impact in the community, especially in support of those living with Alzheimer’s. She resides in Florence, Alabama, with her husband and two children, where they are actively involved in local initiatives that promote health and well-being.
As a board member, Beth is committed to contributing her knowledge and expertise to further the Alzheimer’s Association’s mission and enhance its impact. She looks forward to working with fellow board members to advocate for families and individuals affected by Alzheimer's disease.

Zabi Hotaki
Zabi Hotaki joined Encompass Health in November 2023 as senior vice president of finance.
Before joining Encompass Health, Hotaki served as senior vice president of finance at Stericycle, where he oversaw financial planning and analysis, corporate strategy, investor relations and enterprise performance management. He also helped guide the company through its multi-year business transformation. Prior to that, he held several key finance roles of increasing responsibility at Service Corporation International.
Hotaki holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles and a master’s degree in business administration from California State University, Northridge.

Dr. Hayley DeGraaff
Founder/Owner Advanced Life Clinic, Dr. Hayley DeGraaff is an Arkansas native and a graduate of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. After pursuing training in the field of anti-aging medicine, Dr. DeGraaff opened Advanced Life Clinic in 2004, starting with simple anti-aging procedures, but quickly adopting an overall integrative practice, offering women’s health, lifestyle coaching, weight loss and wellness.

Harrison Adams
Husband, girl dad, family man, CEO at Specialist Management Solutions (SMS), golfer, college football fanatic (War Eagle), 2x state champion. Harrison got involved as a result of his mother and aunt both being diagnosed and eventually losing them to Alzheimer's. He has been involved for over 7 years now and hopes to not only find a cure, but to bring awareness to those who find themselves in a similar journey and realize they are not alone

Ethan Hiatt
Ethan Hiatt is a distinguished trial attorney specializing in construction law. With nine years of experience at the firm, he has developed a reputation for his expertise in handling cases related to construction and product defects. He is dedicated to taking cases to trial when necessary, a testament to Edge Lawyers’ focus on litigation and trial work that sets them apart from other firms.
Ethan is a graduate from The University of Alabama and Alabama School of law. Following law school, Ethan worked for a large Birmingham firm where he focused with Antitrust and Cybersecurity practice groups specializing in Multidistrict Class Action Litigation before joining Edge Lawyers in 2016. It was here that he discovered his passion for courtroom proceedings, which ultimately led him to pursue a career centered around trial work. Since transitioning to Edge Lawyers, Ethan has successfully handled over 25 trials and secured settlements exceeding $5,000,000.
In recognition of his achievements, Ethan was recognized as one of the Top 40 Under 40 by the National Trial Lawyers Association in 2024 and recognized as a Lawyer of Distinction in 2025. Beyond his legal practice, he has demonstrated a commitment to civic engagement through his involvement with various organizations. He has served as Vice President for the Junior Board for Smile-A-Mile and also is also associated with the Greater Birmingham Humane Society.
Outside of his career, Mr. Hiatt enjoys cooking and finds great satisfaction in helping others through his work.

Hal Word
A native of Scottsboro Alabama, Hal is honored to be a member of the Alabama Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association’s Board of Directors, which he joined in January of 2025. Hal has had several family members affected by this disease, including his beloved grandmother and his father-in-law, and realizes the importance that the Alzheimer’s Association plays in the fight to find a cure for this insidious disease.
An artist by trade and founder of H. Bradford Word Art, Hal has previously served on the Foundation Board of the Huntsville Museum of Art, as well as the boards of Terrific New Theatre and The Dane Peterson Theatre Series in Birmingham.
