Donate NowWhen Alzheimer’s disease touches your family, it changes everything. For Kim Fleurquin, a healthcare professional at Sonora Quest Laboratories and an Alzheimer’s Association Chapter Board Member, the impact has been deeply personal. Her grandfather and two uncles have faced Alzheimer’s. One lost his battle, and another continues to fight. These experiences have fueled Kim’s passion for advocacy and education.
Kim’s journey began with heartbreak but evolved into a mission. She recalls watching her family struggle and realizing how overwhelming dementia care can be. “I saw that it took a village,” Kim shares. “Don’t be afraid to reach out and ask for help.”
While Kim wasn’t a direct caregiver, she witnessed the emotional and physical toll on those who were. She learned that no one should navigate this disease alone—and that community support is not just helpful, it’s essential.
Her professional background in healthcare gave her a unique perspective. Kim began connecting the dots between her work and the needs of families living with dementia. She saw how complicated the healthcare system can feel and made it her goal to simplify the journey through education, resources, and meaningful connections. “Navigation seems difficult,” Kim explains. “I want to help make it easier for families.”
Kim’s advocacy goes beyond awareness; it’s about action. She champions early detection and diagnosis, knowing that timely intervention can change lives. She works to reduce stigma, normalize conversations about dementia, and ensure families feel empowered to seek help.
“Advocacy and community matter,” Kim says. “I want to be a voice for those who don’t have one.”
A Champion for Change
Kim’s commitment doesn’t stop at words—it shows in her actions. She actively participates in Arizona Alzheimer’s Advocacy Day at the Capitol, lending her voice to influence policy and funding for dementia care. She also continues to support the Era of Hope Gala, filling a table each year to raise critical funds for research and support programs. Her employer, Sonora Quest Laboratories, shares her passion. They are not only a Presenting Sponsor of the Era of Hope Gala, but name Alzheimer’s Association Desert Southwest Chapter as one of its top three charities.
Beyond the Gala, Sonora Quest demonstrates its commitment through community engagement. Their Walk to End Alzheimer’s team in Phoenix raised an impressive $13,339, showing that corporate support paired with individual passion can make a powerful impact.
These efforts reflect Kim’s belief that corporate and community partnerships are vital in the fight against Alzheimer’s. By combining advocacy, philanthropy, and education, she’s helping create a future where no family faces this disease alone.

Why Kim’s Mission Matters
Alzheimer’s is more than memory loss—it’s a disease that affects every aspect of life. Today, more than 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s, and that number is expected to double by 2050. Families often feel isolated and overwhelmed, but advocates like Kim remind us that help is out there.
Her work with the Alzheimer’s Association ensures that families have access to support groups, educational programs, and resources that make a real difference. By sharing her story, Kim hopes to inspire others to speak up, seek help, and join the fight to end Alzheimer’s.
