Donate NowIn 2018, Harrelson announced that he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. He became an honorary chair for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in 2018 and joined the Board of the Alzheimer’s Association Long Island Chapter in 2019. Bud, his former wife Kim Battaglia, and the Harrelson family have been active in raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s research and support programs.
“The Alzheimer’s Association mourns the passing of our longtime supporter and former Board member Bud Harrelson,” said Douglas Davidson, executive director of the Alzheimer’s Association Long Island Chapter. “He inspired us on and off the field and our organization is grateful to Kim and the Harrelson family for raising awareness of the disease and helping others. Our thoughts are with them.”
