Alzheimer’s Association Wins AWS Imagine Grant for My ALZ Journey App

Association to work with AWS to bring new features to My ALZ Journey to ensure newly diagnosed individuals with dementia and their families get expert, timely support

CHICAGO, Jan. 7, 2026 — The Alzheimer’s Association announced today that its My ALZ Journey mobile app has been named a winner of the 2025 Amazon Web Services (AWS) Imagine Grant, a competitive program supporting nonprofits that use technology to address global challenges.

The grant will fund enhancements to My ALZ Journey, a free app designed to help individuals newly diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or other dementias and their care partners navigate the early stages of their journey. The app offers personalized guidance, educational resources, planning tools, interactive activities and local community connections.

“We are deeply appreciative of the AWS Imagine Grant,” said Katie Evans, chief programs and mission engagement officer at the Alzheimer’s Association. “This support will allow us to expand the My ALZ Journey app’s functionality, deepen personalization and extend reach, ensuring more families receive timely, expert support following a dementia diagnosis.”

Currently, there are more than 7 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease. A 2024 Alzheimer’s Association survey found 66% of dementia caregivers report difficulty finding resources and support following a dementia diagnosis.

The Alzheimer’s Association was recognized in the Go Further, Faster category, which honors innovative projects leveraging advanced cloud services. The award includes up to $150,000 in unrestricted funding and up to $100,000 in AWS credits and technical engagement with AWS specialists. Awardees were selected based on innovation, mission impact and measurable outcomes.

At AWS, we're continually amazed by the nonprofit sector's innovative spirit and dedication to creating positive change in our communities and around the globe," said Rick Buettner, managing director of global nonprofits at AWS. "Through the Imagine Grant program, we're seeing organizations embrace cloud technology in ways that fundamentally reshape how they deliver on their missions. From scaling their impact to reaching underserved communities, these nonprofits are showing us what's possible when vision meets innovation. We're proud to support their transformative work and help them build solutions that will benefit communities for years to come."

Since its launch in 2018, the AWS Imagine Grant program has awarded more than $21 million in funding, cloud credits and technical expertise to over 170 nonprofits worldwide. Past recipients have addressed challenges such as political transparency, clinician workload reduction, coral reef monitoring, global access to clean water and rare disease research.

More than 95,000 nonprofits globally use AWS to advance their missions. AWS offers tailored programs to help organizations overcome technology barriers and enhance operational scale and performance.
