Alzheimer's Association Thanks Participants for Making Walk to End Alzheimer's Top Walk
SAN JOSE, CALIF., DECEMBER 18, 2024 – The Alzheimer’s Association Northern California and Northern Nevada Chapter announced today that Walk to End Alzheimer’s® - Silicon Valley became the first Walk event to raise over $2 million dollars in the Association’s history, profusely thanking participants for raising critical funds to support care, support and research programs. The funds allow the local chapter to provide these much needed resources, including respite care, to our most vulnerable populations.
“We are deeply grateful to the many dedicated Walk participants, volunteers, and sponsors who made the 2024 Walk to End Alzheimer’s a resounding success and helped us reach a historic milestone for the Association,” said Justin Kennedy, Executive Leadership Councilmember for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s & President at Litherland, Kennedy, and Associates. “The funds raised will advance crucial research and provide essential care and support for individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementias in our local communities.”
Team Poppies emerged as the top fundraising group at this year’s Walk, followed by Diane’s Team and Team Intuitive. More than 2,500 individuals registered across 277 teams for the event.
Although this year’s Walk took place on September 28 at Lake Cunningham Park in San Jose, fundraising efforts are still ongoing. The chapter has recently launched the “Battle of the Bay” challenge, pitting Walk to End Alzheimer’s events in Silicon Valley, East Bay, and San Francisco against one another to see which will achieve the highest percentage increase in funds raised between November 20 and the end of the Walk season on December 31.
