CHICAGO, September 26, 2024 — The Alzheimer’s Association and the Philippine Nurses Association of America (PNAA) are excited to announce a groundbreaking partnership designed to promote brain health, elevate awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, and offer crucial care and support resources to individuals, families and communities in need.

Under this new collaboration, PNAA will mobilize at least 12 chapters each year to partner with local Alzheimer’s Association chapters. This initiative aims to engage underserved and underrepresented communities through a range of education, research, and awareness programs. Both organizations share a commitment to empowering nurses, healthcare professionals, and caregivers to enhance awareness, promote early detection, and support those living with dementia.

The primary objective of this partnership is to promote brain health and provide support to individuals and families impacted by Alzheimer’s and other dementia. PNAA and the Alzheimer’s Association will work together on various initiatives to increase awareness and foster community involvement. Efforts will include educating communities about Alzheimer’s and dementia, highlighting the importance of participating in research and clinical trials, and sharing the latest research findings. Joint social media campaigns, public messaging, and culturally tailored educational materials will be utilized to reach broader audiences. Additionally, PNAA members will have the opportunity to become Alzheimer’s Association Health Equity Champions, enabling them to educate and advocate for Alzheimer’s and dementia care within their communities, including presenting at PNAA’s annual and regional conferences.

“This partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association significantly amplifies PNAA’s efforts to promote brain health and educate communities nationwide about Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias,” said Dr. Marlon Saria, President of PNAA. “By working together, we are proactively addressing cognitive aging and enhancing the quality of life for those affected.”

“We are delighted to collaborate with the Philippine Nurses Association of America to extend our outreach, particularly to underserved and underrepresented communities,” said Dr. Carl V. Hill, chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer, Alzheimer’s Association. “This partnership will enable us to provide essential disease-related information, care and support resources, while encouraging increased participation in Alzheimer’s and dementia research.”
