Donate NowEach month the Alzheimer's Impact Movement (AIM) highlights one of their advocates. This month features Barbara Marquez. Despite her mother’s death in 1990, Barbara continues work with legilslators in the hopes of helping other families. Learn more about Barbara's story and the work she's doing to support families.
On March 5, 2025, advocates from across the state of California will come together to share their stories with state legislators at the Capitol in Sacramento. Their ask is to support critical policy priorities that will improve the thousands of lives of people living with dementia. One such advocate, Barbara Marquez of Sacramento, shares the story of her mother who had Alzheimer’s disease.
Despite her mother’s death in 1990, Barbara continues to show up, to help other families in the hopes that she can make their caregiving journey a little easier. This year advocates are asking their representatives to support the Credit for Caring Act. This act will help alleviate the financial challenges of caring for a loved one by creating a new, non-refundable federal tax credit of up to $5,000 for eligible family caregivers.
You can read all about Barbara’s story on the Alzheimer’s Impact Movement (AIM) website here.
