Citizen Brain: Loneliness

Josh Kornbluth
Global Brain Health Institute and UCSF
San Francisco, CA - United States

To increase awareness about the feeling of loneliness experienced by most individuals with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementias and their caregivers, Mr. Kornbluth proposes to make an online video for the general public about the origins of loneliness, its effects, and how it works in the brain. Mr. Kornbluth plans to use videos infused with humor, entertaining facts, motion graphics, etc. pertaining to the brain science of loneliness and share them via various social media platforms (such as YouTube, Facebook, etc.). Mr. Kornbluth believes that such an approach may gain wider attention among lay audience and suggest ways by which, as a society, we might use this knowledge to reduce both the stigma and prevalence of loneliness.
