Two Tennesseans rank in Top 100 Individual Participants
Get ready to be inspired by Wes Milligan and Amy Gammel, because our two nationally ranked Walk participants are doing amazing things in their communities!
The #4 individual Walk fundraiser in the nation is our own Wes Milligan, who raised an astounding $160,435 for the Memphis Walk to End Alzheimer's in 2025. He has been a Nationwide Top 100 Participant every year since 2017. His team, Bourbon BarrALZ, raises money through charity barrels from Tennessee bourbon distilleries.
“I’m honored to stand next to Amy and be among the Nationwide Top 100 Participants for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s,” Wes said. “Thanks to so many donors, I’ve now raised more $750,000 since becoming a volunteer, which means I’m one step closer to my $1,000,000 lifetime fundraising goal.”
In 2025, Wes was presented with the Association's 2nd annual Harry Johns Award for Volunteer Excellence for his more than 20 years of volunteerism in 4 different states. Wes had a formative experience as a young journalist interviewing families impacted by Alzheimer's, which still motivates his involvement today. He has served on the Tennessee Chapter Board of Directors since 2021.

The nation's #90 individual Walk fundraiser for 2025 is Amy Gammel, who raised in impressive $28,105 in support of the Jackson Walk. Her efforts center around a hyper-local community awareness walk that she organizes in Halls, TN, population 2,091. It may be a small town, but by rallying around the fight to #ENDALZ, they are making a big impact.
"I am truly humbled to join Wes as a Top 100 Nationwide Participant for the Walk to End Alzheimer's. I promised my Aunt Myrt that her fight would be my fight," said Amy. "Although my name is listed, I wouldn't be here without my community. We have raised a total of $87,963 over the last 5 years, and we are just getting started. 2026 here we come!"
Amy currently serves as Vice Chair of the Tennessee Chapter Board of Directors.

Congratulations to Wes, Amy, and all of our amazing supporters. You are making a difference for the 129,000 Tennesseans living with Alzheimer’s and their 386,000 caregivers.
