Today, West Texans face the devastation of Alzheimer’s which is robbing us of our families, our futures and our finances. Our network of Alzheimer's Association volunteers works relentlessly to ensure access to gold-standard care and support members of their own community.

Our volunteers are passionate, inspired and want to make a difference in the fight against Alzheimer's and all other dementia in our community—from planning an event to hosting a support group, spreading awareness, advocating for Alzheimer’s legislation, or providing office support, there are many ways to get involved.

The West Texas Chapter is seeking volunteers to help expand the reach of our programs. To learn more about local volunteer opportunities like those below, contact the West Texas chapter by calling 800.272.3900, emailing westtexas@alz.org, or by completing the West Texas Volunteer Interest Survey.

Support Groups - (Facilitators or Mentors)
Support Group Facilitators create a safe, open environment where people share their feelings, thoughts and experiences to better cope with and manage the shared challenges of dementia. Mentors provide training & guidance for facilitators of early stage or caregiver groups.

Early-Stage Social Engagement Leaders plan social engagement activities such as bowling, baseball games, potlucks, tours and other cultural events for people living with memory loss and their care partners.

Looking to Get Involved in Other Ways?

In addition to these Program Volunteer opportunities, the Association needs volunteers to support the mission through these avenues:

    Advocacy
Alzheimer's disease is one of the most critical public health issues in America. This is why we are unrelentingly advocating for public policies that increase critical research funding and support all those affected. Now is the time to join us. Help persuade policymakers to make Alzheimer's a national priority.

    Awareness Events
Join us to raise awareness and funds to further the fight to end Alzheimer’s. Our events take place in communities across the nation. We also offer a variety of in-person and virtual events, including support groups, education programs, conferences, galas and more.

    Clinical Trials
Recruiting and retaining diverse trial participants is now the greatest obstacle, other than funding, to developing the next generation of Alzheimer's treatments. Individuals with dementia, caregivers and healthy volunteers are all needed to participate in clinical studies focused on Alzheimer's and other dementias.
