Alzheimer's Association invites Fox Cities area residents to join 2025 Walk to End Alzheimer's, Sept. 13

APPLETON, WI, AUGUST 13, 2025 – The Alzheimer’s Association is inviting Fox Cities area residents to join the fight to end Alzheimer’s by participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s® on September 13, 2025, at Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton. The event opens at 8:30 a.m. with the Opening Ceremony at 9:30 a.m., immediately followed by the Walk at 10:00 a.m.

Get ready for a full day of community fun! Start the morning with a relaxing visit to the Caregiver Oasis, offering chair massages by Blue Lotus Massage and Touch of Health & Wellness. At 9:00 a.m., energize your body with a lively warm‑up led by Gerad Donahue from Advanced PT. From families to friends to neighbors, there’s something for everyone as we come together for a cause that matters. Kicking off the Walk in inspiring fashion, Joseph Scala will deliver a powerful performance of the National Anthem.

“We are thrilled to see our community come together for this vital cause,” said Joseph Scala, Walk to End Alzheimer’s Fox Cities Chair. “Each step taken, and every dollar raised brings us closer to a world without Alzheimer’s. Our collective efforts make a real difference in the lives of those affected by this devastating disease.”

The walk features the inspiring Promise Garden Ceremony, where participants carry colorful flowers, each representing a personal connection to the disease.

More than 7 million Americans are currently living with Alzheimer’s, one of the nation’s leading causes of death. Over 11 million family members and friends provide unpaid care for those affected. In Wisconsin, more than 110,000 people are living with Alzheimer’s, and tens of thousands of caregivers are supporting them every day. In Outagamie County alone, over 3,907 residents age 65 and older are living with dementia.

Exciting progress in both treatments and early detection has brought new hope to millions of families. Breakthroughs in medical science, fueled by decades of research, advocacy, and community support, are helping people receive answers sooner and benefit from new ways to slow the progression of the disease. These advances strengthen our determination to keep moving forward toward a world without dementia.

This year, the Alzheimer’s Association proudly welcomes Bill Schroeder, former Milwaukee Brewers player and longtime television color commentator, as the Honorary Statewide Chair for all 2025 Walk to End Alzheimer’s events in Wisconsin.
