MILWAUKEE, WI, AUGUST 14, 2025 – The Alzheimer’s Association invites Milwaukee County residents to join the fight to end Alzheimer’s by participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s® on September 14, 2025, at Henry Maier Festival Park – Briggs & Stratton Stage, 639 E. Summerfest Place, in Milwaukee. The event begins at 8:00 a.m., with the Opening Ceremony at 9:30 a.m. and the two-mile walk starting at 10:00 a.m.

Arrive early to check in and enjoy all the fun, family-friendly, and free activities before the walk begins! The event will feature more than 10 vendors, along with special tents for caregivers, kids, and anyone interested in learning more about Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. A professional photographer will be on-site to take a complimentary team photo. Before the Opening Ceremony at 9:30, don’t miss a moving performance of the National Anthem by the Amazing Grace Chorus - a group made up of people living with dementia and their caregivers. It’s a moment you don’t want to miss!

During the 2-mile walk, participants will take in beautiful views of the Milwaukee skyline as they make their way around Lakeshore Park. Joe, host of Feel Good Mornings on B93.3, will emcee the event, keeping the energy high throughout the morning.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s Milwaukee County is chaired by Wendy Burke of Burke Properties, who also serves as President & Chairman of the National Center for Housing Management; Ken Hudak, Owner of Canopies; Margo Hudak, Director of Sales at Canopies; and George Wong, Investment Analyst at Baird.

Ken, his daughter Margo, and his grandson George walk in loving memory of their wife, mother, and grandmother, Joan Hudak, whose life was lost to Alzheimer’s disease.

“I got involved in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s while my mom, Joan Hudak, was still able to participate, even as she battled Alzheimer’s disease. At the time, my goal was to raise awareness within my Milwaukee community. After that first Walk, I realized how therapeutic it was to meet other families fighting the same fight. It gave me the sense of unity I so deeply needed on what can often be a very lonely Alzheimer’s journey,” said Margo Hudak, Co-Chair of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s Milwaukee County.

The walk features the inspiring Promise Garden Ceremony, where participants carry colorful flowers, each representing a personal connection to the disease.

More than 7 million Americans are currently living with Alzheimer’s, one of the nation’s leading causes of death. Over 11 million family members and friends provide unpaid care for those affected. In Wisconsin, more than 110,000 people are living with Alzheimer’s, and tens of thousands of caregivers are supporting them every day. In Milwaukee County alone, over 15,718 residents age 65 and older are living with dementia.

“How important is finding a cure for Alzheimer’s? Our family knows all too well. From the onset to the final stages, we cared for my wife, Joan, around the clock in her own home for more than ten years. We saw the toll it took on her and on us as caregivers. Thanks to the Alzheimer’s Association and the medical community, we had the guidance and resources to navigate this insidious disease, and we were blessed to be able to do so. That experience inspired us to give back by helping raise the funds needed to one day end Alzheimer’s,” said Ken Hudak, Co-Chair of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s Milwaukee County.

“The Alzheimer’s Association is committed to ending this disease through support, research, and advocacy. As a walker and fundraiser for the past six years, we’ve continued to set higher goals to help the Association move its mission forward. Now, as we are in this new ‘Era of Treatment,’ the need for community support is greater than ever,” said George Wong, Co-Chair of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s Milwaukee County.

This year, the Alzheimer’s Association proudly welcomes Bill Schroeder, former Milwaukee Brewers player and longtime television color commentator, as the Honorary Statewide Chair for all 2025 Walk to End Alzheimer’s events in Wisconsin.
