LAKE GENEVA, WI, AUGUST 21, 2025 – The Alzheimer’s Association is inviting Walworth County residents to join the fight to end Alzheimer’s by participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s® on September 20, 2025, at Library Park in Lake Geneva. The event opens at 8:30 a.m. with the Opening Ceremony at 9:40 a.m., immediately followed by the Walk at 10:00 a.m.

The day’s program will be emceed by Aaron Sims, play‑by‑play announcer for the Milwaukee Admirals and a member of the Sportscasters Against Alzheimer’s initiative, who will guide participants through the festivities and announcements. The Wally & Barbara Phillips Award, recognizing inspiring contributions in the fight against Alzheimer’s, will be presented during the Opening Ceremony. Following the Walk, participants can look forward to hot dogs courtesy of the Lake Geneva Jaycees, along with other post‑walk festivities.

Families and supporters will also enjoy a variety of fun post‑walk happenings, including a guitar raffle (winner announced after the Walk), a Champions Club raffle, and a community after‑party at Magpie’s beginning at 12 p.m. with a lavender lemonade drink special and festivities lasting well into the afternoon.

“This Walk is a celebration of hope, love, and community,” said Anne Kessing, Manager, Walk to End Alzheimer’s. “From the dedicated volunteers to the families and teams who show up year after year, we are reminded how powerful this movement is. Every person here is helping bring us closer to the day we end Alzheimer’s, and today’s energy shows that our community is truly united in this fight.”

The walk features the inspiring Promise Garden Ceremony, where participants carry colorful flowers, each representing a personal connection to the disease.

More than 7 million Americans are currently living with Alzheimer’s, one of the nation’s leading causes of death. Over 11 million family members and friends provide unpaid care for those affected. In Wisconsin, more than 110,000 people are living with Alzheimer’s, and tens of thousands of caregivers are supporting them every day. In Walworth County alone, over 2,633 residents age 65 and older are living with dementia.

Exciting progress in both treatments and early detection has brought new hope to millions of families. Breakthroughs in medical science, fueled by decades of research, advocacy, and community support, are helping people receive answers sooner and benefit from new ways to slow the progression of the disease. These advances strengthen our determination to keep moving forward toward a world without dementia.

This year, the Alzheimer’s Association proudly welcomes Bill Schroeder, former Milwaukee Brewers player and longtime television color commentator, as the Honorary Statewide Chair for all 2025 Walk to End Alzheimer’s events in Wisconsin.
