    The Empowered Caregiver: Supporting Independence
    Presented by Meghan Davis
    Focuses on helping the person living with dementia participate in daily activities, providing the right level of support and balancing safety and independence while managing expectations.

    The Empowered Caregiver: Communicating Effectively & Responding to Dementia-Related Behaviors
    Presented by Rachele Nicoletti
    Teaches how dementia affects communication, including tips for communicating well with family, friends and health care professionals. Discusses common behavior changes and how they are a form of communication, non-medical approaches to behaviors and recognizing when additional help is needed.

    Keynote Speaker

    Lyla Yastion: An author and teacher. Lyla has written three books. Her latest book, entitled My Years as an Alzheimer’s Caregiver: transcending loss by nurturing spirit, relates Lyla’s personal journey as her husband’s sole caregiver for six years. It was published in 2025 by Third Eye Books. The book was recently awarded sole finalist in the 2026 American Legacy Book Awards, a national competition.
